Fire Escape Gardening

Ok so I’m a little behind when it comes to gardening. Really I should have started this months ago, but like everything else in my life I have waited until the last minute. I thought I would share my  fire escape gardening woes with you guys.

Outside of our dining room (also know as my husbands paint studio) is 60 square feet of decorating possibilities (at least that’s how I look at it) Last year I purchased a small table and a couple of chairs, and loaded up on flowers and herbs from the Union Square farmers market. The outcome was…well, functional but not that pretty. This year I am set on turning our fire escape into an outdoor oasis!

That being said over the next couple of weeks I will be updating everyone on my progress, sharing my D.I.Y. projects, and giving out gardening tips along the way.

I’m a little embarrassed to share these but here’s what I’m working with….

Please ignore the hockey equipment that’s been airing out since march and look there’s the christmas tree stand (it should be dry by now!).

fireescapeplants1-copyYou can see I’ve started to collect the herbs I’m gonna plant, and check out my little mushroom (it’s ceramic and fabulous) .

fireescapetable1-copyThere’s the table and chairs(I guess I can finally take those stickers off huh) Over in the left corner you can see all of my pots and cans (not as weird as you may think) I’ve been collecting all winter for a special little project…stay tuned!
